Lauren Bleaken
Rehabilitation Veterinarian | BVSc MANZCVS (Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation - Canine)
Lauren graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2012. Her interest in rehabilitation began with a personal experience during veterinary school, when she was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in 2011.
Following many months of rehabilitation herself, Lauren experienced first-hand the difference that dedicated rehabilitation can make to restoring mobility and function.
Several years later, her own dog's mobility challenges, combined with working in clinics with a strong orthopaedic focus, highlighted to Lauren the important role rehabilitation plays in supporting patients following surgery and managing chronic musculoskeletal conditions. This sparked a particular interest in veterinary rehabilitation, which she pursued through two years of postgraduate study, gaining Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (MANZCVS) in Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (Canine).
Lauren is passionate about helping animals regain mobility, build strength and maintain an active quality of life. Her experience as a veterinarian, particularly within orthopaedic-focused practices, gives her a strong understanding of the challenges these patients face and how rehabilitation can support their recovery.
Outside of work, Lauren is usually found cheering on one of her two boys at their sporting events, often alongside her husband. She enjoys coffee, horse riding, tennis and long walks with friends, but is just as happy tucked away in a quiet corner with a good book.
